New course: Philosophy of neuroscience

Together with my colleague Steven Scholte, I designed and taught a new course on philosophy of neuroscience for BSc students Psychobiology. In this course, we discuss questions such as: Where do hypotheses come from? How do the different levels of ‘psychology’ and ‘biology’ connect? What is a good explanation in neuroscience? What is the role of (computational) models? And what is the ultimate goal of psychobiological research: explanation, control, or prediction?
Students develop their own scientific vision and present their perspectives in a short video at the end of the course.
