The role of scientific insights in ascribing criminal responsibility

Stephen Morse is a professor in criminal law. In 2011 he wrote an article titled ‘Genetics and criminal responsibility’ in TiCS, which caught my attention since I wrote my philosophy master thesis about the same topic (see the entry below ‘Philosophy Master thesis’). Morse argues that despite advances in genetics research, no radical transformation of criminal law (and its concept of responsibility) has occurred, and that indeed there is no reason for such a transformation. I strongly disagree with his arguments and therefore I wrote a reply. It was not published, but if you would like to know why I do not share his ideas, you can read it here.
