Participation in VSNU ‘Duin & Kruidberg conferentie’
In June 2014 the management elite of the Dutch universities came together with policy makers, CEO’s of big Dutch companies and a couple of students (including me) to discuss the future of higher education in the Netherlands at the VSNU (Dutch Association of Universities) Duin & Kruidberg conference. The Rathenau Institute provided us with four possible scenario’s for the future to structure our thoughts and discussions. It was very interesting to notice the different perspectives of for instance university professors and the Dutch minister of Education: the latter emphasized the need for more general skill development at the university level, while the former worried about the continuous reduction of in-depth courses in their field.
