Research fellowship at KNAW’s Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study

From February to June 2026, I am a research fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS) in Amsterdam. NIAS offers established and talented researchers working in, and at the intersection of, the social sciences, humanities and the arts the space, time and freedom to pursue a topic they consider urgent, based on their academic knowledge and experience. For five or ten months, they are able to work unencumbered and undisturbed.
NIAS’ goal is to enable independent curiosity-driven advanced research in the humanities and social sciences. Moreover, NIAS aims to bridge the gap between the research practices of the humanities and social sciences on the one hand and the natural sciences and life sciences on the other hand. In addition, the academic community is enriched by the presence of writers, journalists and artists producing a serendipitous and collaborative work environment, which unlocks imagination and curiosity.
My research project is titled ‘Measurement matters: Developing a philosophical measurement toolbox for neuroscience’ about which you can read more here.
I am excited to be part of the NIAS community and to gain new perspectives on measurement and science in general.
