Presentation at C-Roots about the self, identity and the brain
In August 2013 I was invited by C-Roots, an Amsterdam based agency for identity, strategy and creativity to give a talk about identity and the brain. I combined insights from philosophy, neuroscience and psychology to discuss questions like: where is the self, what is it, how does it develop, and which factors influence our identity?
Why were they interested in these topics? C-Roots states: ‘We believe that in the roots of every organisation, the inexhaustible source of inspiration is to be found. Giving guidance to strategy and in the development of creative concepts for marketing, communication, culture and innovation.’ So for them, it is interesting to compare the psychological insights about the identity and ‘selves’ of individuals with the identity of companies.
